A short story
Post Body

Im new to the game, just downloaded it yesterday, but ive played startegy games like this before, all g. Once I got access to my own little team after the tutorial, literally everyone died except one dude, campbell, bro was panicked 3 times to sectoids, lit up worse than john marston at the end of rdr and just generally hurt real bad, it was such whiplash to see the dynamic loading screen with just him, alone, looked like he was shellshocked or something. I was already feelin bad but then after the loading screen it showed poor dude tumbling and tripping, then he collapsed, I felt so shit. After a few more missions, he’s recovered and ready to go again, now a marksman, he then was the sole character I owe about 3 other mission’s victories to.

Cut to this most recent mission, got 2 rangers with the concealment perk, a grenadier, and campbell. Used Campbell and the grenadier to kick up some dust while the rangers broke in while concealed to get the objective. Everything went according to plan, until what seems like the entire army of Rome started busting down on the distraction duo, I pull them back and around, then the grenadier dies. “Fuck.”

Cut to me practically crying as I see my boy campbell taking fire from like 13 enemies as I try to get him to the roof where my rangers were waiting for him to evac.

This mad lad avoided like 13 overwatch shots from sectoids, mecs, etc. about 22 actual bullets fired on the opposing turn, and dodged one of them monsoon lookin mf’s twice.

I never expected this strategy game to be so fuckin cinematic and terrifying.
