I and unclesaam invite you to submit your flash fiction for the fourth iteration of the now-famous, never-equalled, often-imitated, seldom-boring, mostly-intrigueing Reddit Writing Group Prompt Contest.
Guidelines: submit one (1) original piece of fiction, 100 to 1000 words in length, based on the prompt below. Submisions should be hosted on Google Docs and set to be shared with all. Those in on the fun then get to criticize, comment, eviscerate, kiss-ass, and―most importantly―vote to name a champion.
The new winner is then contractually obligated to host the next prompt contest under similar rules and covenant, and is bound in perpetuity in all jurisdictions henceforth fictional and real, ceteris paribus, sensu stricto, cacoethes scribendi insanabile.
The prompt:
Write a story about a character witnessing some sudden, catastrophic event. It could be a bombing, an auto accident, a random murder, a very public breakup, or something less lame. The event should be sudden and out-of-flow with the character's life, and you should depict an aftermath.
This thread is for committing to the contest. Please comment in some vague way in the affirmative to be entered. Contestants should reply by Friday 9 April. Submissions are due by 16 April; please post a link to your Google Doc under this thread.
And please enjoy yourself.
EDIT: Entries closed as of the end of today. Get writing, folks! Links to a Google Docs version of your story should be posted here no later than next Friday, 16 April. Hope you're having fun.
EDIT: Submissions piling in! A wealth of logorrhea, which is more than can be said of most things that end in -rrhea. The official post, submission queue, comment bin, and voting can be found here.
If you've neither submitted nor begged off after committing, feel free to sneak one in until tomorrow!
