It's a very simple chain of command, I think.
There's the leader of the country, G. Beneath G is the council, say GC. They give out orders to their military leaders to pass on to units.
Leaders are as follows: Regional General (over certain divisions of land, for instance, South Division General). Under them is a Colonel, perhaps a few per region, who oversee regiments of soldiers. Under the Colonels are Lieutenants, who oversee specific platoons within each regiment. Beneath the Lieutenants are Majors, who command squads of soldiers. In these squads are Privates, ranked on a scale of 1-3 stars based on experience and length of time in service.
It's loosely based on American military systems, clearly, and I've left out a LOT of particular titles. No Sergeant, no Lieutenant Major, no Corporal. It's meant to be crystal clear who commands who, so there is never any confusion. Are there any glaring problems with this structure that I should consider before continuing with it? I'm in the early stages of the story and a lot can be changed if I need to.
