Hello! I'm trying to work in a flooded world, where the waters are receding from about 200 years at a high water mark that forced most of the planets population into mountain bunkers, from which they're now emerging and a couple of generations into re-claiming some of the new land outside.
Another element is flora-mimicking nanobots that were created at the start of the flood in a failed attempt to manage the impacts (dune grass, riverbank trees, etc).
Trying to figure out what these mountaintops environments would look like in terms of landforms and ecosystems, wildlife, agriculture in the new colonies (from family farming to agribusiness). What should I know about mountaintops, cliffs, coastal erosion, etc as I look for real geological events from Earth's history that could inform this world? And re: the nanobots, I think that after becoming submerged, they could still survive and adapt, so they might play a role in how that erosion plays out.
Happy to hear any thoughts on this premise, and of course, any direction of research I should be pursuing. Thanks folks!
