Maybe I'm biased, but I remember Cody Rhodes in WWE consistently put on forgettable matches. I thought his Stardust gimmick was cringe and the dashing Cody Rhodes was almost as cringe but had some redeeming qualities. When he went to NJPW I just felt like he didn't belong, all his matches were pretty mediocre and he just seems limited in what he can do.
He has a cool entrance, cool music, cool outfit - but the acting skills just aren't there for me. When I see him on TV I just feel like it turns very scripted, it's very unnatural and forced. His in-ring skills definitely improved but they are still pretty....average.
I really don't see it. I legitimately think people just like him because he is Dusty's son. Like, what's the appeal? No compelling acting, bad to average ring work, bad to average mic skills.
I just don't get it.
