Getting started with visual hallucinations

I've often thought of visual hallucinations as one of the more challenging suggestions, that many people struggle with at first. For that reason I also haven't played with them that much (when touch hallucination is often easier, and very rewarding!)
Recently I was challenged to top visual hallucinations with someone who hadn't had success with them before. So I tried out some of my theories about what would be a good entry point, as opposed to, "there's an ewok in the corner!"
One thing I did was have her stare at an area of the wall and suggest in trance that she would gradually start to see a face appear in the texture and shadows (this is called pareidolia) This worked fairly well for her, and she even saw colours, age of the person, personality, etc.
Another thing that was pretty successful was a trigger to change the lighting level in the room (a double-clap!). I was open ended about what the change would be, and emphasized the emotional aspects: you notice that the light has changed, and feel that it's different than it was before. The changes she saw when I tried it were subtle, but distinct and surprising to her.
I would like to know, do you have visual hallucination suggestions you think are easier, and do you have thoughts about how to bridge from there to more "advanced" visual hallucinations?
