Will skipping remaining stages in Centrifuge reset my progress in The Machine?

I'm currently on stage 7 of The Machining, not too far from stage 8. But I've noticed the Centrifuge is in overtime and will let me skip all stages for gold. I've got a load spare at the minute and fancy getting it. If I do, will it reset my progress on The Machine? I'd like to finish stage 7 but don't know if I can before the Centrifuge is gone for good.
