Question about qualifying in Sprint Cars vs. Late Models

Have been a fan of both for a couple of years now, but I never have found an answer to this. Why do Sprint Cars, Midgets, etc. usually only qualify one car at a time, but Late Models, Modifieds, and other non open wheel cars qualify in groups of 2 or 3?
