In several war movies portraying Japanese POW camps, you see allied pows exercising by flailing their arms around and chanting. I’m wondering if there’s any factual information to this occurring in real life, and if so, what is this type of exercise called and what was its purpose? It appears as though a Japanese guard usually leads the pows in the exercise
