I loved the US DD line until I hit Fletcher. I used to give the Fletcher a wide berth thinking it to be a fearsome ship, but having played it, it's such a let down. Its not a gunboat, it's not a torpedo boat, it's got good concealment and decent enough speed, but it feels too fragile, with seemingly low DPM.

I'm used to the floaty shells, having played all US lines (except CVs and subs). But somehow the Fletcher's feel more, well, floaty. I decided to head out in other DDs to see how it felt to really engage them, low and behold they Fletcher gets gutted.

I'm certain I have to be playing it incorrectly, tried playing it differently to how I'd play Benson or Kidd, but to no avail. Is it a case of it's just been power crept or is there something I'm missing? Is the Gearing just a T10 Fletcher or does it bring something more?

On a more personal note I suppose, all the ships in the US line I've been excited to get to have proved to be such a let down. The ones I expected so little of though proved to be the most fun.
