[Vent] I turned down a test for a $ 26.44-an-hour job.

Post Body

You probably read that and think I'm crazy. But this wasn't from an interview. It was to possibly get an interview.

I'm pissed because I was doubting myself at first. Like should I decline this? $26.44 is fucking GREAT pay. More than I've EVER had.

But a three-hour unpaid test on a possible interview? I can't fathom spending my time on a maybe. And I looked over the test and it literally has nothing to do with what the job is that I'd be doing. So a test to jerk me around for no reason since nothing from the test would ever be in the job at any point.

I'm venting because there are companies that think this is okay. They're like well we're offering $26 an hour. YEAH. Maybe if I already had an interview and this was part of my interview AND it had to do with the job.

But this is a test to see who is willing to suck their ass in hopes of them dangling that interview bait in front of them.

And what next? Say I ace this test. A 4-day interview? Another set of hours-long tests and then more interviews and every single bit of it unpaid.

I wish I could reply to them and be like I'll do your test after you do my test and then send them a 3 hour test.

I declined it. It pisses me off, but honestly, if this is how they are before you get there, can you imagine what it's like when you get there?

Edit: And before anyone asks because they're willing to, no, I'm not going to say whom it is.
