My husband has been stupidly stressed all week with working long grueling hours cashiering at our local grocery store. He has come home frustrated and exhausted everyday by people holding up lines to run back to grab some free turkey they didn't bother to grab before, or people literally just screaming in his face. Working in retail has gotten even more grueling as people in public have gotten just so shameless and cruel?
I'm not so old but I swear I remember a time where stores were just... closed on Thanksgiving. My husband should be at home with family, instead he's dealing with last minute customers treating him like garbage, so again when he gets home for the holiday — his days already basically ruined.
Why is nobody talking about this, or are there some huge threads I'm missing? There's zero need for most stores to be open on the holiday, and it's time that's taken away from the workers. for what? small last minute profits? When black Friday is just going to drag them all back on anyways?
There should be a push for just staying home on Thanksgiving. :/
Signed, a bitter lonely woman whose blessed to have had the holiday off.
I totally agree with you!
