My partner is from Louisiana.
After talking to him, his family and friends, southern labor policies are abhorrent
My partner hasnât lived in Louisiana for 6 years. 3 of those years were with me in New England.
Every. Mother. Fucking. Year. The state finds some reason to bilk my partner from money or cause some kind of trouble.
The most recent incident was wondering why my partnerâs payment for car insurance wouldnât go through only to learn that the state called Progressive, said that his address and registration was wrong. So we had to spend an hour on the phone, having to prove that he indeed doesnât live in Louisiana and hadnât for a while. And then we had to spend two days on the phone calling the godforsaken state to make sure they werenât going to try and send a fine or some shit and to send proof to Louisiana that he hasnât been a resident for years and to knock off the bullshit.
Three years with this man and Louisiana is like dealing with a severely malignant tumor

I doesnât help that minority groups are targeted.
My partner didnât really start voting until he started dating me and settled up north. Last time he tried to vote in Louisiana there were men in trucks with guns, whipping all over the place around the polling station chasing off all the black people.
Where his grandma was in Nola some of the voting stations in predominantly black neighborhoods will be moved without any notice, or the amount of polling places will be cut back
