Neither my spouse nor myself are union but one of us works at a place with union workers. I'm not going to say which one but it's a big national name you would recognize.
Despite a bad experience with UFCW years ago I fundamentally support unions. They provide a necessary service in protecting workers and we all benefit because of them.
A good union can show why you should be a member in terms of direct benefits.
An excellent union makes sure everyone benefits.
Our family's insurance is union coverage. There is a union logo on the insurance website. While the exact coverage isn't great, we pay a grand total of $0 in premiums for family health, dental and vision coverage.
Comparing to our other employer option comparable coverage would be just shy of $20,000 just for the premiums. Working full time that's more than federal minimum wage.
The union benefits us.
