How could I use my mad search skills to earn money?
Post Body

Iā€™m looking to WFH and hereā€™s my supposed ā€œsuperpowerā€: people tell me that I find on point results on the Internet quickly when they havenā€™t been able to find them.

I donā€™t know if theyā€™re saying that to get me to do their research (jk) but I do have excellent skills at finding things online. Strong writing/summarization skills. But research jobs are typically science based, which Iā€™m not.

Which fields am I overlooking, please? TIA

I'm a legal admin, so it's probably not the answer you're looking for since this sub is more for self employment gig work.

But just for some perspective, my job entails exhaustive searches in multiple databases for all sorts of files, records, correspondence, documents, or even mentions or clues to whatever it is I am searching for. Locating documents can be extremely complex and can involve coordination with multiple departments or staff members.

So yes, your search skills could be part of a skill profile that could help you earn money, but in my humble opinion, on it's own it's not going to be very profitable. However, one thing that comes to mind that might interest you is records management. It's a lot of searching, reading, writing, organizing, data entry, etc. Entry level positions don't have an especially high bar but equivalent experience is very important to impress, even if it was in school or something. Can be done 100% virtual in some cases, but likely very competitive.

Public entities (government, schools, hospitals, military, etc), legal, registration, licensing and insurance, really any organization that deals with a high volume of 'paperwork'. Most administrative jobs have a records management component.
