[HELP] Need some help with BuddyPress. What is the point of the "Media" tab?

I've been playing around with BuddyPress for my charity's website. Everything looks pretty good, but when I go to the "Media" tab, I see a "Photos" heading with "Sorry, no items found," under it. Ditto for video, etc.
How does one put photos under there? I'm not seeing ways to upload. I'd like my users to have that option... or at least some explanation as to why there's nothing there.
