Why is wordpress so difficult to use?

I just started using this software to make a website.
I've been at my computer roughly 5 hours now, I've hard to reset my website several times because it's absolutely overwhelming and counter-intuitive.
I was hoping for a fast website maker, not something that gives you several hundred buttons, and your only support is either hundreds of random, unrelated guides or over-seas tech support.
