Hello,
I’m drawing up plans for my dutch tool chest and i was trying to decide what thickness wood to use. I think what is going to determine this is the two cutter sizes for my stanley 45 since that’s how I’m going to cut the dados.
My smallest cutter is 7/8th inch which means i have two options. I can get 1 inch dimensional lumber which will have a nominal size of 3/4 inch or i can get something with a nominal size of 1inch and use a rebate plane to bring its edges down to 7/8th of an inch.
So my question is. How important is it for the board going into the dado to be exact? can I slide it in like a drawer bottom which is possible if it’s a 1/8th of an inch small or should i use the rebate plane to make it fit exactly with larger stock?
