Drawers getting stuck

Post Body
Hi all, I have a dresser in my living room, quite old handmade one. There are 3 drawers in there that don't run on rails but just timber on timber (a groove in the side of the drawer and a piece of wood on the side).
What can I do to make them open more smoothly, I don't really want to change the runners.
Not sure if putting some kind of oil on there is good for the wood.
