Feedback on rolling cart/bench for planer (Dewalt DW735)

Post Body

Per title, looking for feedback and input on these two design options for a rolling cart or bench setup for my Dewalt DW735 planer.

Both designs make use of 3/4" ply.

Option 1 - Open design, uses less material, can be used to store pieces in/out of planer (to some degree). Maybe have some racking issues?

Option 2 - Closed box design, drawers and shelf space, uses more material, heaver (good thing) and stronger.

Which option would you choose and how would you improve these designs?

Additional goal: To have a repeatable design concept for modular and mobile carts for my benchtop tools, so as I make more of these they are versatile and consistent in their design concepts (not necessarily sizes)

[EDIT] I'd just like to say a big thank you to all the commenters who've provided input and your own experiences below. This is a great community and you all rock!
