What is the right screw to attach this workbench frame to a particle board countertop
Post Body

I am attaching a steel workbench frame to a 1.5" thick IKEA countertop made of particle board. What kind of wood screws are appropriate for this job?

I think that these #8 2-1/2" screws are sufficient, but I'm not certain. 3" is definitely too long. These shorter screws would go into the countertop about an inch. Is that enough depth? Is it too deep? Are these the right kind of screws?

I want to be careful not to create a bulge on the top when I screw these in.
