TL;DR: I only need 2-3 baseboards, 8-12ft long, my Lowes is 1 mile down the road, I can take a backroad going less than 35mph, but don't have a truck or rails on my car. Husband said that's not the right way to do it, it's trashy to put a moving blanket on top of a car and strap them down, and that nobody does that.
I'm mad and looking for validation, I know, but I also just don't see what the harm is.
I'm redoing quite a bit in our 1950s cape cod and we both drive hatchbacks. I need 8-12ft worth of baseboards, we weren't sure if they'd fit inside the cars, and don't have rails on top.
I suggested that we could put a blanket on the roof and strap them on. We live exactly 1 mile from Lowes, and I take a backroad to get to and from, less than 35mph.
He stared at me like I was an idiot... then tells me that isn't the right way to do it, it's trashy, nobody does that, and instead suggested we should rent the trucks.
I honestly don't even care if it does look trashy... its just a mile, to get baseboards home? I don't see the big deal. I also drive a very well kept Honda Fit so its not like I'm doubling-down on "looking trashy"
Please tell me I'm not alone in this thinking? If I am, I'll accept it. I WAS raised extremely low income, even homeless at one time, and I don't mind doing things "not the right way" sometimes.
