Finishing up some 'bracelet assistants' for the upcoming craft show. I was applying a CA finish, and had just started the first coat of thin CA. Wasn't paying attention and held the bottle so it could nicely drip out. On the handle for the spindle lock on the tailstock. Not exactly on the handle, but close enough that it was able to run under the handle and under the washer under the handle.
This is a slow setting CA that really needs accelerator if you want it to set sometime in the next decade. That was my saving grace. I was able to finish applying the finish, being careful to NOT hit the tailstock with accelerator. Got the finish applied, then a took apart the lock (thankfully none got into the lock mechanism itself - I really did not want to completely tear down the tailstock). Some quality time with a rag and some acetone and all is good.
Lessons to be learned - When working with CA, pay attention to where the bottle is when it is open. The other lesson is to make sure you have CA debonder or acetone within arms reach while working with CA.
That tells me it is time to be done for the night. Tomorrow is a new day.
