Anyone good at wood identification?

I grabbed this from a freshly cut pile of wood (with a "Free Wood" sign, of course) in my neighborhood. I'm in MD, USA. The bark is a little shiny, like cherry, which is popular around here, but I don't think that's what it is, now. Help?
