As a seasoned DM... This game has some of the best DnD DM Gags out there.

Post Body

I've DM'd on and off for about the last 7ish years, and have absolutely enjoyed Wonderlands and the DnD Gags that are springing up.

A few of the best ones from a DM's perspective...

  • Necromance Her: The quest itself is a simple fetch quest. Find good accessories for Wastard's new threads... It's not until you have to find the Tailor... or Taylor in this instance. Valentine just says "I search for a Tailor" See as a DM this simple phrase gets us to lick our chops... yeah we know exactly what he means but a big thing of DnD is being specific. If there is the SLIGHTEST bit of Room for interpretation you better believe the DM will take advantage. Right away when Valentine said "What the hell Tina?" and she followed up with "That's BnB Baby!" I about fell out of my seat.
  • Armageddon Distraction: The blue hat man... I mean come-on he's up to SOMETHING! Look at his fancy hat .... it's just so BLUE... and EVIL! One of the biggest mistakes a DM can make is accidently describing something too well. In this case Tina Created the Blue Hat man and Frette and Valentine were HOOKED!. I dunno how many times I painted a word picture for my players and they said wait... what's "that" about... and in my head I've got nothing for "That" and all of the sudden it's pop-up improv theater. Tina does her best to get them off the blue hat man but they won't let it go. Yada Yada Yada and he's got a side hustle as an evil warrior harvesting blue crystals for the blue hat cult! The best part about it is when Frette and Valentine say "That was cool" and Tina Beams. When you can pull off something fun on the fly AND your players think it was awesome... that's DnD baby!
  • Mortal Coil: Oh man this one kicked me right in my DM Nuts. See part of being a DM is creating the world, characters, and lore. SOME of us (not all) put in lots of time and effort into world and character building that it becomes a part of us. We love our characters, we want our players to love our characters. When they don't, it can be a bit disappointing. In this case Tina created Ksara. A coiled priestess that want's to save her people/home. Beautiful, Rich, Redemption... a great character AND Loads of lore in the quest. BUT for some reason Valentine and Frette don't like Ksara and it eventually leads to Tina killing her off Super Troopers style. I get it Tina... I get it.
