This somewhat flew under the radar because of the Women's World Cup for which Slovenia did not qualify but things within the Slovenian women's national team have been very tense lately. In late July, after Slovenia lost 0-3 at home to Serbia in a friendly game, the players sent a letter to their federation asking for the removal of head coach Borut Jarc who was hired in 2018. The players have named a series of reasons including:
- a lack of professionalism
- the head coach using inappropriate language and insults towards players
- no communication between the coach and the players as well as the coach and the clubs where the players play.
- the NHS looking to save money and as a resulting booking the cheapest flights meaning players and the whole staff travel to destinations longer.
- the coaching staff allegedly concealed COVID-19 infections
-Alcohol was present at national team gatherings
and many more accusations.
The president of the NHS (Slovenian Football Federation) hit back at the players saying ultimatums are not the right way to solve things. All the players signed the letter which was written in Slovenian obviously, let me know if you want me to translate it in full and publish it here.
To be followed...
