I recently discovered a mass in one of my breasts and scheduled an appointment with my doctor. i saw him today and he requested a mammography and an ultrasound.
I called the radiology center to book an appointment and they said because im 27 they can’t book a mammography i need to be at least 30. The scary part is that before she knew my age she gave me an appointment this Tuesday and when i asked for a different day she said i need to come ASAP if my doctor required it and if it’s a lump that i need to take the first mammography appointment available, and she booked me for that appointment and then she started noting down my personal info and when she got to my age she said she can’t actually book me and that i can only do an ultrasound and even i can’t be prioritized for that so the only appointment available for the ultrasound is in two weeks… i asked her if it was just at this specific clinic and she said no one would accept to do my mammography because im not 30 yet, i explained that GP actually prescribed it, it’s not just me wanting to do one for fun and she said it doesn’t matter they would have to do an ultrasound and if the technician sees that EXCEPTIONALLY i would need a mammography then they would book it but that it was unlikely
Im so mad and frustrated at the lack of information.
