I inadvertently have my own personal screening tool.
I have a rare name. And I’ve always been an open person. I’ve gotten more discriminating in my older age, though, because of creepy, creepy experiences I’ve had because it’s hard to hide amongst other Jennifers and Lisas in my age bracket.
So I use a nickname on OLD and such.
An emotionally healthy guy will think that’s an awesome idea and respect that a woman has to be protective of herself.
An entitled guy will call me a bitch and insist I tell him my real name. (Which people think is a made up name anyway.) And call me other unsavory names. And tell me I have no right to do that.
This is very helpful. These men all but screen themselves. Like something I heard here, I think: what a man does when you say yes is not who he is. It’s what he does when you say no that will reveal who he really is and what he really wants and expects.
