I thought i'd offer some unrequested feedback on this game after playing 1000 battles and having 51 ships.
- Lack of in-game information about mechanics.
- Spotting - This is a classic, you get little to no info about how spotting and other mechanics work in-game. The spotting icons are vague (besides the eye which is obvious), the radar looks like a plane and most of the times you're wondering why you're spotted behind an island with nobody around. >!i also think there are some oddities like getting extra spotted when you get hit by someone< . It would also be nice if spotting had a timer when the spotter leaves area/dies.
- Damage - What do the 4 icons mean? They are never explained in-game, most people just spam HE even at broadsides, they never change the ammo cause they dont really know what it's used for.
- Aiming. You get a reticle and some lock-on, tracking is up to you.
All this info could be easily implemented in the menu or the loading screen, better than looking at some scenery for 30 seconds.
The matchmaking
I may be completely biased here, but some matches result in a loss or win in under 2 minutes.
In some matches you are in complete statistical disadvantage from the start. An example is when you play as a cruiser and the battleships outnumber you. Same as multiple destroyers and a few battleships. I think the order should be destroyers < battleships < cruisers for each match.
Division Matchmaking. Sometimes you see a T3 ship in a T5 match because a T4 brought his friend.
Inequality in ship type/size per lane. Sometimes you play as a destroyer, you got a cruiser and a battleship near you, but on the other side of the map there are 2 battleships and 1 destroyer. Im guessing this is for combat diversity, but sometimes its just sad.
Map placement is odd sometimes.
Now for the productive suggestions
- Tooltips in the loading screen/Menu for various useful information
- Suggested playstyle tips for different ships (im looking at u Gnevy)
- A little more balance in the matchmaking
- Lockable rudder turn, useful for battleships which turn slowly.
Basically, some general gameplay improvement. Ships are cool.
