first the unimportant part, I’m making this post mainly because I already posted a meme that says something similar in a facebook group so now I’m doing it here :p, and I have nothing else to do at the moment.

I’ve seen a few posts from various WoT groups for the past few days that basically say something along the lines of “It’s unrealistic for Egwene to be as good as she is in the One power/politicking/dreaming” and although I disagree with that, I could understand where people are coming from when they’re saying so. My thing is is that if that’s a problem, then shouldn’t the same be said and be more applicable to Mat? I mean the reason for him having his knowledge is explained and all but he didn’t necessarily earn it. Egwene to me is more of a “I went through shit to be this good” and Mat is more “I’m this good but now I have to go through shit”. To be clear I’m not arguing about which of them are the better written or just overall which of them is the better person/character. I’m just focusing on which of them did more to be where they’re at.

Edit to add this little bit

Think of it this way. Two people try to climb mount everest. One is simply just a boy scout and likes participating in those rock wall climbing things (forgot what they were called :p) and — while climbing mount everest — is receiving advice from a veteran mountain climber. The other had no experience in mountain climbing or survival in the cold whatsoever but he is suddenly possessed by all the greatest mountain climbers and survivalists that ever lived. Both of them make it to the top, and even though it makes more sense for the one who was possessed by the mountain climbers to have reached the top, the one who had at least a little bit of training did more and gave more effort to be there.
