So, I'm on a reread of the series, and I'm at the scene where Mat and the Band of the Red Hand arrive in Salidar. He finds out that Egwene is the Amyrlin and wants to take Elayne to Caemlyn. Elayne says that finding the bowl of the wind is more important and that she will go to Ebou Dar to find it. What I am confused by is, why is she completely forgetting that she is the daughter heir? She is angry at Rand for holding the kingdom together in her absence and how dare he "hand her the kingdom" while she is going of and galivanting through Randland. What is she thinking will happen? The country will miraculously wait for her to decide that she is ready to become queen? And in the meantime the country is supposed to be leaderless? If it were not for Rand, Andor would already be fighting for the succession, and we see multiple parties explaining their claim for the throne.
They could totally let someone else find the bowl with Nyneave's help, since she has seen where it is, while she can go and actually do the one thing she was meant to do since birth. Why is she so... I don't even have the word for it, but it's like she wants a civil war at the most critical time. And the entire time beforehand, where all she is doing is being an accepted, which is totally not the best thing she could be doing with her time right then and there. I don't even know what the point of this post is, I'm just frustrated with Elayne.
