(Knife of Dreams/Book 11: Chapter 10) Frustrations with Jordan's treatment of characters

NOBODY DIES! Why can't Jordan bring himself to kill off major characters?! I am tired with the fake outs, the false cliffhangers, the reincarnations, and plot armor that everyone has. I have even started routing for major characters to fail because I just want this story to have consequences.

  • Why do we even bother with plot lines involving defeating the forsaken if they can just be reincarnated? It cheapens death, just like The Death and Return of Superman.

  • I thought having Moirane die in book 5 was fitting because it allowed me to maintain the suspension of disbelief in the story. It was the only death in the entire story that the reader might care about, and now that's gone. How am I supposed to feel suspense if no one ever dies or they cannot make a critical failure.

I am frustrated, and probably ranting. After introducing us hundreds of new characters over the last 5 books, I just want some of these people to be killed off.

I'll post a more complete version of my thoughts on Jordan's style and method after I finish with this book. Please don't go beyond or even hint at things beyond this chapter.
