How does one do this lipstick thing?

Hello fellow witchy types! Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I love love this community and thought y'all might have some good tips without the judgement! I've never been one to wear a lot of makeup, and actually stopped completely quite a few years ago... But, after finishing active treatment for breast cancer I've started playing around with makeup again with kind of a self-love viewpoint (as opposed to the times I wore it because it was required by social norms)... Well. This year for Halloween I was given this really awesome dark purple lipstick and omg y'all... I feel so hot! I wanna embrace this vampy side. I want to wear all the dark shades! But, I have some questions... Like...

What are some good brands for lipsticks? Especially dark colors? How do I keep the lipstick from smudging all over? Or how can I keep a good shape and not have blob-y puckers? How can I keep my lips moisturized with lipstick on? So it doesn't get built up in the cracks?

I feel like a little girl playing with my mom's makeup again. And it's actually really exciting! I learned about makeup in the 90s so my skills are a bit outdated, ha!

Edit: thank you all so much for your responses! (I feel like Molly some days ha!) New things to play with wee!!
