New Game + or Fresh Start

Asked before but wanted some opinions on what I should do. Searching for the answer I'm still conflicted.
I have finished the witcher twice, last time though with the beginning of 2017, so I haven't played in 6 years. I still have my save so I can do NG .
If I do NG will I be overwhelmed? Or would it be worth it to max out Geralts skills and start with more stuff?
