Another update from the newbie (first time playthrough)
Post Body

First of all, thanks to you guys, I now love Gwent. Oh my god, once I got rid of the trash cards in my deck, learned some basic strategies, and got my first special cards, it's like everything falls into place. I am easily winning every game I play, and while I'm content playing on Easy just to get all the cards for Collect Them All, I absolutely love meeting a new merchant and seeing that they are a fellow Gwent enthusiast. I'm in Skellig right now and I haven't found the first opponent yet, not that far into the story but once I do I'm pretty pumped.

Haven't tried any horse racing yet but I've upgraded my bags so I think I have around 220 slots now? Definitely makes a difference when out looting.

I romanced Triss. :D I like Yenn too, but I have a thing for redheads...

I've calmed down on rushing to every POI as soon as it gets marked on my map.

There have been some genuinely funny moments so far, which surprised me, like Geralt attempting to "act" in the theater questline.

Story-wise I've only just arrived on Skellige. I love how much it reminds me of Skyrim, for obvious reasons, and I feel right at home here.

Build-wise, my Geralt is mainly melee (with oils) but I also use the stun ability a lot. I like to actually read the beastiary with this game so I can see what an enemy's weakness has. I'm so used to hack and slash combat so that makes such a big difference.

I'm only Level 20 and I feel like I'm barely even getting started with this game, there's just so. much. content.
