Throttle help

Heya! I just acquired a secondhand first gen freedom..but it has throttle issues. If I turn the throttle the screen says it's engaged but the motor doesn't kick over. The pedal assist seems fine because when I can get it over once or twice the motor flies on and starts kicking. Anybody have any part replacement suggestions? Most local shops by me either won't touch it or can't source parts
