If last night against Edmonton proved anything, it's that Drew Willy is not the answer at QB.
Post Body

I'm by no means an expert but it was pretty clear as the game went on the difference between the Edmonton Eskimos and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers... QB.

Take stats out of it, and look at the two QBs. On one end, a hard working Grey Cup champion who I don't think ever stopped competing, communicating, or looked like a deer in the head lights. On the other end, Drew Willy, who looked like a deer in the head lights, barely communicated, and looked like he stopped competing towards the fourth quarter. I mean Reilly was constantly talking to his guys, dancing in the pocket, making the right throws and the right decisions, willing his way to a win. While Willy, rarely scrambled or stepped up in the pocket, rarely made good decisions (at least in the second half), and towards the end couldn't even throw a crossing route.

I'm not trying to bash Willy, but the guy is hard to watch. He's so emotionless out there and he needs to be more fiery. He needs to be better, and overall a better leader. One instance was in the fourth quarter, he threw the ball too early before Adams had even turned around. When Adams confronted him about it, Willy looked ghost white and just made a few hand signals. It looked cowardly. It wasn't the look of a leader.

Decision wise, in the second half he was awful. He played too conservatively. Always dumping the ball off, never keeping his eyes down field. When Winnipeg got that fumble and was in gimme field goal range, he just seemed to give up on 2nd down and settle for 3. Also within the last minute, when Dressler had a beat on the corner, Willy either didn't have the arm strength or he didn't throw the right ball. Because he threw a jump ball to a 5'7 receiver going up against a 6'5 DB. That's a play that Adams is better suited for. Dressler can't make that catch.

Anyways by my eyes that was the real difference between the Grey Cup champs and Winnipeg. Otherwise, the defence played great and played even better in the first half. But they put the team in a position to win on multiple occasions, creating 3 turnovers by which the offence repaid them with only 3 points. 3 points. If we at least capitalized on 2/3 turnovers we could have pulled the upset and had great momentum moving forward. In the end, it just seemed to me the real reason we lost that game was because of the lack of talent we have at QB.

TLDR; Reilly showed us what a real CFL QB looks like, Willy did not fit the form.
