Reinstalling SteamOS on top of windows for Xreal glasses

I went windows only with Windeck OS and love it but I would like to get steam os back to use with my XReal AR glasses and nebula. Looking back on some old threads it seems this was very difficult, if no, impossible. Has there been anyone able to install steamOS without losing their windows. Due to the windows version, I cannot back it up with windows to just reimage later. It gives me a portable workstation error
