Post Body

I have an ASUS ROG Zephyrus (window 11) laptop that I bought myself brand new 2-3 months ago. Model: GA503RM-G15.R93060 It has been working fine up to me using it yesterday. I get home tonight and turn it on. After going to the screen I would type in my pin to get to my desktop the screen just gets black.

I have tried doing a safe restart and do troubleshooting, everything passed and looked fine.

When I do CTRL ALT DELETE to get to task manager I see that Antimalware Service Executable is running in the background(Other things are running too, but that is by far the most memory(147 MB)). It won't let me end the task. I get a window titled "Unable to Terminate Process" with window text "This operation could not be completed." and below that "Access is denied"

I cannot press WIN R to open command box. I have tried pressing FN WIN and then WIN R again, and still nothing.

I have turned off my laptop, unplugged the power source for 30 seconds, put the power source back in and turned the laptop back on.

I am writing this on the computer in question. By right clicking on a task in task manager and picking Open File Location, I was able to navigate to the Desktop folder and open internet from there. Not sure if this provides any useful information, I am new to Windows.

Any help would be much appreciated.

UPDATE: I went through the safe mode screen again, went to troubleshoot > advanced options > Startup Repair

My computer did some stuff for a few minutes then when it turned on I was able to put in my pin and get to my desktop screen that I know and love. HOWEVER, the screen where I put my pin in that usually has a tiger, trees, dessert, whatever, is now pure black. How do I fix this? Furthermore when I go to Task Manager now, the Antimalware Service Executable is still using a the same amount of memory, and I can not end the task.

  1. Is this normal and I am just now paying attention to it?

  2. I read online that this is constantly checking files including itself. And that there is a way to stop it from checking itself via some edit via WIN R. Should I do this? Is there any reason to not change this?
