Hi,
I am trying to figure out how to get the lock/sign-in sign to show only my first name. I have just spent all day trying to get it to stop displaying a diminutive version of my name (taken from first 5 letters of email address) that I don't like to be called by and find offensive as my username and file folder name.
But now I want to get rid of the places it's calling me by my Microsoft Account name. I only used my first and last initials, because they have no legitimate use for my name.
However, I don't like being called by my full initials when logging into my personal home computer. I want it to just say my first name.
Is there a way to do this without having to make a local account? I am afraid the local account will keep me from accessing Word, Excel, etc. Or maybe this is a hint to just drop as much Microsoft/Windows products as I can to have less stuff to interfere with this stupid OS bullshit.
Sorry for the irritation in this post. Windows 11 made me cry today for wasting my time with frustration when I'm busy.
Edit: I did see some steps about editing security policies to hide user information on sign in. The problem is that it said it would require you to then type in your username as well. That is not acceptable to me as I have no idea what stupid username they are ever assigning me, and I definitely don't want this incorrect/unwanted name to turn into an extra step I have to type in. I want to type as least as possible to get into my personal computer in the first place as well, not more, and would even rather not see a sign-in screen, which is redundant with one user.
2nd edit: This unwanted Microsoft account "full name" also shows on my start menu. That is very visible, so this behavior is undesirable. I don't need to see my full name everywhere, it's weird. My initials are bad as they're also a masculine abbreviation, and to be clear I don't want to see a space in there at all, just my first name. :( :( :(
