2 Desktop folders? Please help

Hey everyone I could use some help with my folders on my PC. My desktop folder under "This PC>Desktop" does not include all the icons on my desktop. However, my desktop folder on the left side of the window directly from the File Explorer app includes everything on my desktop.

As shown in the attached picture, the window on the top shows my desktop folder that includes all the icons on my physical desktop, and the window on the bottom only shows some of the icons on my physical desktop.

Why is there two different desktop folders and why does only one of them include all my icons on my physical desktop?

Can this be changed so all the Icon are just in one folder? Rather than having some icons in two different folders?
