How do I make MPC my default video player for all file types?

I have it set as the default video player, but any time I open a new video file type it opens in the default Movies&TV app. In the settings there's an option to "set defaults by app" but MPC doesn't show up in the list and there's no way to add it. I can go through the list of file types and change the default app one by one, but again MPC isn't an option and there's no way to add it, not to mention that being a really tedious way of changing settings.

It seems my only option is to wait until I come across a new file type then use "open with". Would be really nice to have an easier way.
