Don't know sparrow age: not sure if I should return it to where it was found or rehabilitate it.

Post Body

Yesterday my friend found a young sparrow and mistakenly grabbed it from the ground. The fella is capable of limited flight but hasn't developed adult feathering and weights only 10 grams, which makes me very confused about its age: I feel like it either weights too little for its age, or sparrows develop flight capabilities way before I think they do.

My options depending on its age are either asking my friend where he found it, and returning it there, or bringing it to the wildlife rehabilitation center I work at, which would not be possible until Monday. Any advice?
