Looking for suggestions on where to go late April on the West Coast. I know the verdict is still out on the snowpack for the Sierra but I’m assuming it’ll be way too heavy in late April to touch it.
I’m in Southern California and was considering the TCT since I’ve always wanted to do it but after looking into it more I’m not sure it’s my cup of tea. I prefer trails more remote and away from people. Plus it’s crazy how expensive the campsites are.
Any suggestions? I have considered Ventana Wilderness but I’m also comfortable going out of state as long as it’s a reasonable drive away. Southern Utah maybe? Grand Canyon?
I am experienced and looking for something roughly 3 nights/4 days. Can either be a thru hike/loop with 15ish miles a day, or can be a hike to a nice lake and stay there a couple of nights. Bonus points if it includes trout fishing, but that’s always harder in late April. Thanks in advance.
