As the title suggests, what is it with Big Agnes sleeping pads? I’m a big fan, as they seem loftier and more comfortable than other pads on the market, and I’m willing to take a few ounces weight penalty for the extra comfort out in the backcountry. But every time I find one that I like, they discontinue the damn thing. I had the Q-Core XLS 25” Wide pad for a couple of seasons, and I’ll be damned if I didn’t leave it behind on a side-trail off the JMT a couple years ago and it was lost. I went back to my old Klymit sleep pad with hopes of buying another Q-Core. Looking into it, I discovered that the Q-Core line was being discontinued, and it looked like they were replacing it with the Rapide line. It looked like a very similar pad, but red colored, and possibly a higher R-value. I went to REI‘s website to see about purchasing it, and now it looks like the Rapide line is being discontinued as well. This makes a little sense as it’s only been out for a couple years since it’s been out.
