How hard is it to put cfw on a Wii?

Specifically one of the original models that could play GameCube games. My dad has the old one my brother and I played. The only problem is that we had no digital games on it due to a lack of Wi-Fi but since the closure of the wii that has since been resolved to some degree.
Since he still has it though and Nintendo still wants to charge full price for wii games, I though about modding it and putting a bunch of games on it. How hard is it to do it on the original model with only a laptop?
