Monsters the Captured

Deep in the digital realm there is a beautiful splendorous ecotech-topia that has eliminated scarcity. Are we sure this is a world of darkness? The rift technology that powers this world makes it impossible for dangerous non-humans to enter the realm because anything other than a simple mortal (including hunters & sorcerers) becomes what are known as monsters. Monsters are visibly not from this world, some look like distorted animals others take more totemic forms. Monsters are non-verbal with humans but appear to communicate psychically with each other.

This would seem like a terrifying trade off with Final Fantasy level consequences. The monsters' forms are so unstable in this (pocket) reality that simple rift energy emitters can dispel them and rift energy modulators (REMorbs, because of their spherical shape) can reduce them to a psychic signature held in stasis until they are released. This makes them basically harmless to the human society. Why, children use REMorbs to collect them. The little tykes train them to fight or show them in beauty contests. They join organized gyms and leagues that encourage the rascals to promote mutations to make them deadlier or that makes them conform to human beauty standards. Yes, monsters are no threat to humanity...

In this game you play a wild monster, trying to keep you and your monsters away from the devious ape-spawn often battling captured monsters to your exhaustion and horror, only to have to flee a clumsily thrown REMorb. In what is unapologetically an orgy between Most Dangerous Game, Fantastic Planet, and Pokemon the players are truely at the mercy of humankind's darkest nature and must live a terrified Watership Down existence to not become slaves living in a ball.
