Oh you had one small account go into collections and paid it off 5 years ago? Sorry you're denied 🤷♀️
I'm in the US and work in the collections industry. The laws we have to follow basically say that even after something is paid, it still has to reflect as derogatory on the person for 7 years. It's up to the lender for a home loan whether or not to take it into consideration. But of course people call the collection agency and yell at us because the system is broken here.
Exactly. Our average debtor is 22 years old 🤦♀️
I really admire the people who make these calls. I work in quality assurance so I listen to calls all day and evaluate them. I'm grateful to work for a company that has a soul and ethics. It's very understandable why people don't trust us, but there are SO MANY regulations we have to follow that doing it the "right way" still hurts people.the root issue is no one makes enough money, and students who drop out of college end up liable for their education bill...another broken system.
