Friday Recipe: Singapore Noodles
Author Summary
tiglathpilesar is in Singapore
Post Body

  • 1 ham steak seared on both sides and cubed
  • 1 lb peeled and deveined shrimp
  • 1 package Rice Vermicelli noodles, prepared according to directions
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 1 package shredded red cabbage
  • 1 package shredded carrots
  • 1 package frozen shelled edamame
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • Fish Sauce to taste
  • Tbsn curry powder
  • 2 tbsn rice vinegar

Most of the work in this is in the prep. In hot oil in a wok or enameled stock pot, saute your onion for 5 minutes until opaque, then add your garlic for 30 seconds. Put in your other 3 vegetables and toss to stir fry for 5 minutes. Add in your ham and shrimp and toss until shrimp are done. Add the noodles, curry, vinegar and fish sauce and toss to coat and mix everything together. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. I usually end up using more fish sauce and curry than what I've put here, but everyone has different tastes.

The prep work will take you roughly half an hour depending on how good you are with a knife. The cooking will take less than 15 minutes. Now go and impress your SO.

Note to newcomers: yes this is a recipe on a shaving hobby sub. I've been doing this on and off for years and the mods offer me some dispensation in regards to my shit posts. So try it and eat really well for a night (or two), downvote, tell me to fuck off, or all of the above.
