I have a number of vintage shaving items from the Soviet Union that I have collected over the years. We're in the process of decluttering so this PIF is one of my contributions to the effort. Hopefully someone appreciates these pieces of shaving history in their collection.
My favorite piece is a commemorative shaving set with a water cup and lathering bowl. I don't know exactly when this was made (60s?) but it commemorated Soviet achievements in space flight and rocketry. The engraving has Sputnik and rockets (ICMBs?) shooting across the sky. This was sold at the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy in Moscow.
Next is a razor and blade case in a metal travel case. This razor was made in the 1970s at the Metallist factory in Dnipropetrovsk Ukraine. It's likely a Ukranian copy of a Czech Saluna (or at the very least inspired by it).
Finally is a NOS Iskra (Spark) razor, maybe from the 80s. I've seen this design before (maybe a Schick) so I assume this is a clone. Maybe someone can shed more light. This one comes with a tuck of NOS Sputnik Leningrad blades.
Bonus: Show off your proletariat solidarity with this pin marking the 10th Five Year Plan! (1975-1980 I think)
Enjoy the PIF
